A lighter yarding at Murgon today with numbers starting to shorten up due to time of year and the wet weather that fell across the region. A very good sale was had with strong meat-work and other buyer competition. Heavy bulls over 600kg topped at $3.88/kg for $3,800/hd, averaging at $3.74/kg for $2,700/hd. Lighter bulls in the 500-600kg weight range topped at $3.76/kg for $2,100/hd for an average of $3.67/kg. 400-500kg Bulls made up to $3.56/kg for an average of $2.99/kg. The cow market saw a big lift in price compared to previous weeks with light store cows making up to $3.52/kg for $1,400/hd and averaging $3.08/kg. 400-500kg Cows topped at $3.70/kg for an average of $3.51/kg. Heavy cows topped at $3.76/kg for $2,200/hd, averaging at $3.73/kg for $2,000/hd.

 

Steers 280-330kg topped at $5.16/kg for $1,500/hd and averaged at $4.76/kg for $1,300/hd. 400-500kg Steers made up to $4.50/kg for $2,000/hd, and averaged $4.31/kg. A beautiful line of red bullocks topped the 500-600kg weight range at $4.62/kg for $3,100/hd, with an average of $4.60/kg. The heifer market saw plenty of strong competition with 200-280kg heifers making $4.30/kg for an average of $3.66/kg. 330-400kg Heifers topped at $4.00/kg for an average of $3.75/kg. 400-500kg Heifers topped at $4.06/kg for $1,700/hd, averaging at $3.94/kg.
